There more industry opportunities for Biologists now…. and many do not wish tenure track posisitions in the first place.
There certainly are, and more biologists are interested in them.
There are some really great industry jobs out there, but a remarkable number industry jobs I’ve seen people take suck, in terms of pay level, and in terms of what you do on – they don’t seem worth the opportunity costs of a PhD and postdoc.
