Tyranniator

When I first heard about a radiator shaped like a Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton, I instantly thought “must have”1. After all, I am a fan of both making the functional inspiring and dinosaurs2. It is a great idea and at first I loved it.

Then something bothered me; and, being me, it has bothered me so much that I don’t think I could have one of these radiators in my house.

The tail is way too short. Or the trunk is way too long. A bipedal theropod like the T. rex needs to be precisely balanced on either side of its hips. The radiator T. rex is not cantilevered properly and would tip over on its face if it tried to walk.

A T. rex based radiator is cool. What would really be nerdy would be to use the skeleton of a dinosaur with features that have been hypothesized to act as heat radiators, like the back plates on Stegosaurus stenops2.

If the cantilevering was not enough, this caption is unforgivable:

NOTES
1. Using the proletariat meaning, where in “must have” translates to “I would like to have, if I could afford nice things”.
2. Though T. rex is not my favorite dinosaur (Stegosaurus stenops).
